It's been awhile since I had time to actually logon to my account. I have been going to school for the nursing program. I finally am done with my prereqs and I have officially applied for the 2016 Fall Nursing Program. I find out in a few weeks If I got in, so check back to find out (hopefully I have good news). Until then I am going to update my blog concentrating on adding hikes to my Oregon Hikes page. ENJOY!

MOTHERHOOD - Jobs NOT chores...
We are going to try something a little different for allowances!
We are defining chores as something that must be done daily and you DO NOT get paid for.
We are defining job as something assigned to each kid that they must do and the DO get paid for it. BUT here is the catch.... if they do their job poorly or not at all they can get FIRED! Yes, just like a real job. Also, they can get raises for doing their job constantly and for doing it well each time.
I think this is a great idea because some jobs are worth more than others and the kids obviously want the ones that pay more, but they have to earn those jobs. There ONE daily chore right at the moment is to keep their rooms clean.
Ex: My oldest (11-years-old) had the job of doing the dishes daily. She constantly had to be reminded, she did they terribly and even broke several of my dishes so she got FIRED! I gave the job to my son and he was all but happy to take it because it pays the most. My oldest was sad, but she has new jobs and opportunities to earn money.
Here's what we are paying for jobs (very reasonable when you have 3 kids, you can offer more if you can afford it lol):
1.) dishes - .75 cents
2.) clean bathroom - .50 cents
3.) wipe down counters in kitchen - .25 cents
4.) clean toilet - .25 cents
5.) clean shower - .50 cents
6.) clean out fridge - .75 cents
7.) vacuum - .25 cents
8.) sweep/mop kitchen - .25 cents
9.) wipe down appliances - .50 cents
10.) clean windows - .25 cents
11.) dust - .25 Cents
Not listed but can be done for extra money:
12.) pick up dog poop in yard - $1
12.) brush dogs - .25 cents
Jobs must be done without complaining and need to be done well (exceptions to learning a new job) in order to get paid in full.
The great part of this is the kids get paid every 2 weeks just like we do. So they get to learn that, like in the real world, you have to do your daily work and wait to get paid. The other benefit to this is that since we pay the kids when we do there's always the guarantee that we can pay them.
To end if all off, when we pay them it goes into a jar for each kid. On the back of the jar is how much is currently in the jar (so there is no stealing) and their savings goal for a purchase.
My son is saving $40 for a Nerf gun her wants
My oldest daughter (yes this is silly) she wants a cardboard cutup of a 1D singer $50
My youngest is saving $40 for a keyboard piano
Once they have saved their goal amount I will take them to get their reward. I made sure they picked something under $50 so it was reasonable and something that wouldn't take too long to accomplish.

MOTHERHOOD - Iced Coffee Easy
If you drink coffee every morning there's a good chance you have extra. I like to take my coffee I don't drink and put it into a container (I used mason jars) and stick it in the fridge. Add creamer if you like creamer. Then walla, pour over ice and its perfect.
This is great for those hot days when you just want a iced coffee and not a hot one.
Yummy....

CRAFTS - We are Official Geocachers!
So, there really is no such thing as an "official" geocacher, but we sure think we are.
Not only have we been searching a lot (and even make whole days out of it) we have have even made and placed some of our own caches!
I can't tell you how exciting making your own for others to find is, It sure is great to find a cache, but placing one is a different kind of excitement.
We have placed three so far and we have a third prepared. They are all local where we live.
If you are going to place it has to be easy for you to get to in order to maintain it.
If you are a geochacher and are interested in creating your own cache check this link out:
If you are reading this and have absolutely know idea what a cache or geocaching is you need to check out a few links.
This one first and foremost a short (less than 2 min) video on what it is.
Next, read my blog about our experiences, the fun we have and see pictures on the different kinds of caches (looks and sizes) we have found.
Hope you are now well informed and love geocaching as much as we do.
Get out there and explore!
(I placed this post in the 'crafts' category because we acre creating caches)

Crazy/Wacky Cakes (No Eggs, Milk or Butter!)
I have to give props to this baker/blogger for these cakes. Sweet Little Blue Bird these are amazing!
I made the vanilla flavored today and it is so yummy! It is moist like it says, its not super airy or dense, its perfect. I will say I'm not much of a cake person because my mom does and has done cakes my whole life, but I sure liked this. It was super easy to make and I had everything in my cabinets.
So this post is strictly to guide you to the recipes for Crazy Cakes, I highly recommend.
Flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Lemon, Spiced, Chocolate Mint, Coffee & Kahlua, and S'mores.

Click here to visit the site and get ingredients and instructions.
I will be making some other flavors soon too and I will share my opinion. Thanks for stopping by!

CRAFTS - Melted Crayon Art
MELTED CRAYON ART
I am in love with this art project and I plan on making many more! This is a reasonable cheap project and very easy. I'm sure most of you have seen some kind of this melting art on Pinterest, but I wanted to do things just slightly different.
SUPPLIES:
ONE Canvas any size
Crayons (amount depends on canvas size)
masking tape
template
hair dryer
foil
To Begin:
To begin print of the template you want.
Then cut it out...
The next part I will admit is the hardest part. I couldn't get pictures of it in detail. Using tape (I used masking tape because it peels off the canvas easily) and your template, place the tape in the shape of your template.
To do this I placed my template over the tape in sections, traced it onto the tape and cut it out.
It should look like this, but with whatever template you are using.
For this the crayons need to be taped above the canvas NOT on it. I taped the crayons to a piece of thick cardboard and then taped that cardboard to the back of the canvas.
Place your canvas onto foil or parchment paper so that when the crayon melts it doesn't get onto any of your things.
Take your hair dryer on the HOTTEST setting and LOWEST speed and aim at the center of the crayons.
Make sure you keep the hair dryer parallel to the crayon because if you point it anywhere else it can cause the crayon to splatter in directions you don't want it to go. You can also use this to move crayon where you want it to go, but be careful it's very hard to control.
Make sure you don't make it too think in any spot or later it will be difficult to remove the tape without cracking.
The crayon dries almost instantly. If you have a spot the clots up on the canvas hold the hair dryer to it about 2 inches away and it will remelt.
Carefully peel off the tape you laid down. Don't wait for the crayon to completely dry, its best for it to be warm for this part.
FINISHED PRODUCT!
Hope you enjoyed this one and everyone tries it! Let me know if you have any questions!

CRAFTS - Basic Wood Burnings
If you have read my more recent post about geocaching then this post will make sense, if not click here to read about geocaching.
A lot of caches have trinkets in them. You take one out and then replace it with something.
I thought it would be neat to make designs on wood with my woodburner.
On the back it has my geocache.com username and that name is also used for my Facebook community.
Here is my wood art (simple but effective):
The awesome thing about these is I want to track them and see how far they travel. If people find one they can get to the Facebook page by searching my username on the back of the wood. From there they can post a photo of the trinket they found and post it on the page along with the city, state they found it in.
It's a great way to see how far the trinkets in the caches really travel.
I just started doing this so I still need to get out there and find some caches to put them in. I am very excited about this. Keep your eye out, most of them will be in Oregon.... to start!
